Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 27, 2026Contents
This Cookie Policy explains how Peepd Inc. ("Peepd," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, browser local storage, and similar tracking technologies when you visit peepd.com (the "Platform"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They allow the site to remember your preferences and actions over time, or to recognize you across visits. Cookies are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide reporting information to site owners.
In addition to cookies, Peepd uses browser local storage — a similar browser feature that stores key-value data locally on your device, with no automatic expiry and no transmission to the server with every request. Local storage is used for session state that needs to persist between page loads without a server round-trip.
2. How Peepd Uses Cookies & Local Storage
Peepd uses cookies and local storage exclusively for the following purposes:
- Essential operation — to authenticate you, maintain your session, and ensure the Platform functions correctly.
- Verification state — to remember that you have completed social connection verification or identity verification, so you are not asked to repeat the process on every visit.
- Preferences — to remember UI preferences such as theme or search settings.
Peepd does not use cookies or local storage for:
- Behavioral advertising or ad retargeting.
- Cross-site tracking of your activity on other websites.
- Selling data to third-party advertisers.
3. First-Party Cookies & Storage
The following cookies and local storage keys are set directly by Peepd:
| Name / Key | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-<ref>-auth-token |
Local Storage | Stores your Supabase authentication session token after signing in with LinkedIn. | Until sign-out or token expiry (typically 1 hour, auto-refreshed) |
peepd_social_session |
Local Storage | Stores a JSON object indicating that you have passed the 500-connection social verification gate, including platform, handle, and connection count. | Persistent (cleared on disconnect or account deletion) |
peepd_id_session |
Local Storage | Stores a JSON object indicating that you have passed the Persona identity verification check, including the Persona inquiry ID and approval timestamp. | Persistent (cleared on retry or account deletion) |
peepd_reviewer_uid |
Local Storage | Stores an anonymous UUID used to correlate your browser session with a Persona verification request before full account sign-in. | Persistent |
4. Third-Party Cookies
When you use the social login or identity verification features, third-party services may set their own cookies on your device:
| Provider | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication and session management during LinkedIn OAuth sign-in. LinkedIn may also set analytics cookies on pages that embed LinkedIn functionality. | linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy | |
| Persona | Session management on the Persona-hosted identity verification page (a separate domain). Persona may set cookies necessary to complete the ID and liveness check. | withpersona.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Font Awesome (cdnjs) | CDN delivery of icon font assets. Cloudflare/cdnjs may set performance and security cookies. | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
Peepd does not control the cookies set by third parties. Please review the linked privacy and cookie policies for each provider to understand how they use your data.
5. Managing & Disabling Cookies
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Here is how to manage them in major browsers:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
To clear Peepd local storage specifically, open your browser's developer tools (F12), navigate to Application → Local Storage → peepd.com, and delete the relevant keys.
Please note: Disabling or clearing essential cookies and local storage will prevent you from using certain features of the Platform, including staying signed in and bypassing verification gates you have already completed.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. Because Peepd does not use cross-site behavioral tracking, our Platform's behavior does not change in response to a DNT signal. We do not track users across third-party websites.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or the way we operate the Platform. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Platform.
