Welcome to Peepd ("Peepd," "we," "us," or "our"). We operate the website at peepd.com and all related services (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices available to you. By using Peepd you agree to this policy.

1. Who We Are

Peepd Inc. is a technology company operating the world's first community-powered social reputation platform. Our mission is to create honest, peer-generated reputation scores built by real, verified people — never by anonymous actors or algorithms alone.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information we receive from third parties.

2a. Information You Provide

• Account information — name, profile photo, and any other details you add to your Peepd profile.
• Reviews and votes — any content you submit as a reviewer, including ratings, written reviews, and accuracy votes.
• Communications — messages, feedback, or support requests you send us.

2b. Information Collected Automatically

• Log data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and referring URLs.
• Cookies and local storage — session tokens, preference flags, and verification status markers stored in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for details.
• Usage data — interactions with profiles, search queries, and feature usage patterns.

2c. Information from Third Parties

• LinkedIn — when you authenticate with LinkedIn we receive your name, email address, profile photo, and connection count via the LinkedIn OIDC API.
• Persona Identity Verification — when you complete ID verification we receive the verification outcome (approved/declined) and an inquiry reference from our third-party KYC provider, Persona. We do not store images of your government-issued ID or your biometric data; those remain with Persona under their own privacy practices.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and profile on the Platform.
• Verify that reviewers meet our minimum connection requirements (500+ social connections) to maintain review integrity.
• Verify your identity via government-issued ID and face scan to prevent fraud and protect people being reviewed.
• Display your public reviews, ratings, and profile information to other users.
• Send you transactional communications (verification results, review notifications).
• Investigate and prevent abuse, spam, fake reviews, and policy violations.
• Analyze aggregate, anonymized usage to improve the Platform.
• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising.

4. Social Network Connections

To submit a review on Peepd, you must authenticate via LinkedIn and have at least 500 verified connections. This requirement exists to ensure that reviews are written by real people with established social identities.

When you connect your social account:

• We store your social platform name, handle/username, and a connection count.
• We store an OAuth session reference but do not store your full access token beyond the immediate verification check.
• We do not post to your social accounts, access your messages, or access your contacts list beyond what is necessary to confirm your connection count.

You may disconnect your social account at any time from your profile settings, though this will remove your ability to submit new reviews.

5. Identity Verification

Peepd uses Persona as our identity verification provider. During verification:

• You will be redirected to a Persona-hosted page to upload a government-issued ID and complete a liveness check.
• Persona processes and stores your biometric data and ID document images in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
• Peepd only receives the verification outcome (Approved or Declined) and an inquiry identifier. We store this outcome in our database linked to an anonymous reviewer session ID.
• We do not share verification outcomes publicly on your profile; they are used only for internal trust and safety purposes.

6. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure), Persona (identity verification), and similar vendors who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
• Other users — your public profile information and any reviews you submit are visible to other Platform users. Your real name and photo are displayed alongside reviews you write, so that accountability is maintained.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Peepd, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

• Account data — retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
• Reviews — retained indefinitely as they form part of the public record of reviewed individuals, unless removed for policy violations.
• Social connection data — retained until you disconnect your social account.
• Verification records — retained for up to 5 years for fraud prevention and legal compliance purposes.
• Log data — retained for up to 90 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention obligations).
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection / Restriction — object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
• Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@peepd.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are located in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

10. Children's Privacy

Peepd is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@peepd.com and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify users via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of Peepd after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
